To further promote the philosophy of internationalized education and enhance the English proficiency and communication ability of top-notch innovative talents, foreign teachers were invited to the CIE English program. Recently, Foreign Language Technique, one of program courses, conducted by American teacher Aziel Koski, now was successfully finished.

Aziel, a young teacher from Arizona, America, has been working as a teacher at this university for two years. In 2014-2015 school year, Aziel finished his teaching of 6 classes of Y2013 group, who has been very popular among the students for his teaching.

On the basis of his mother tongue- English, Aziel held his unique teaching style featuring in authentic pronunciation, lively and passionate teaching. The teaching objective is to enhance students’ speaking and writing ability. In class, students improved their communication abilities through direct communication with teacher, impromptu speech, panel discussion, essay writing and other methods. The light and free atmosphere, versatile format, pragmatic content and many class activities deeply attracted and inspired students’ enthusiasm to learn English and gave them confidence to speak English. In the meantime, students know more about American customs and culture and cultivate an international vision.

As to the advice of English learning, Aziel put forward the three-phase concept. The first comes to the memorization of vocabulary. Then it goes to the application of them. And the final part is the fluent expression. It has never been an easy job for Chinese students to learn well the English speaking and writing, which, therefore requires their concentration on class teaching and  practice after class. Many students are still stuck in the application phase. They need to persist on practice. As to oral English, Aziel suggested students speak it out loudly, which can greatly enhance their confidence in speaking.

Aziel said he loved his work in China. He extended his appreciation to NWAFU for the well-arranged teaching schedule, considerate teaching service, and caring service for his staying here. Hence, he enjoyed his teaching here and could concentrate on his work. He held greatest expectations for students to learn English well.

Aziel graduated from Arziona University in December, 2011. He had done profound research in the following areas: culture, philosophy, literature and cognitive psychology. He attended the cultural exchange program held by Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology in 2009 and 2010. He has been committed to improving students’ English and enriching their knowledge of American Culture.
