How to balance the general education and professional education? How to associate the theories of top talents cultivation model with its construction mechanism to make a breakthrough in the reform of talents cultivation model? How to create student-centered teaching environment and favorable living environment for the over-all development of students? The practice in top talents cultivation left the performers so much confusion which calls for the joint effort for the solution. On May 30, more than 60 people, who were experts in educational circles, representatives from 24 domestic universities possessing educational reform experiment classes or colleges and representatives from Confucius Institute of Maryland University of America, came to A& F and attended the symposium on top talents cultivation model.
        The two-day seminar focused on Quality of Higher Education and Reform in Top Innovative Talents Cultivation Model, at which all representatives shared their experience and put forward questions by making keynote speeches, engaging in group discussion and appreciating desirable comments of experts.
        Representatives from 17 universities including Beijing University, Zhejiang University, Nanjing University, Wuhan University, Xi’an Jiaotong University and A & F made presentations at the seminar. They demonstrated their innovative practice and gained experience in top innovative talents cultivation. In addition, their communication covered the shared questions and reform orientation of top innovative talents cultivation. The desirable education environment for outstanding top talents was supposed to be established through the exploration in promoting the innovation in talents cultivation model, reform in education and management of students’affairs.
        Professor Li Yanbao (Deputy Director of Steering Committee of College Cultural Quality Education, Ministry of Education, China ), Professor Liu Quansheng(Dean of Confucius Institute of Maryland University, U.S.A), Researcher Cao Shengli (President Assistant of CAHE) and Professor Xuwang (College of Kuang Yaming, Nanjing University) commented on the keynote speeches.
        In line with the orientation of an innovative nation and urged by the international competition for talents, colleges in China are now supposed to undertake the historic mission and faced with common target ---taking full advantages of resources to make top talents with innovative spirit out of ordinary students. National Program for Medium- and Long-Term Educational Reform and Development 2010-2020 highlights the important role of talents cultivation system plays in the educational system reform and new ideas in talents cultivation model. Recent years witnessed the progress and accomplishment in the educational reform promoted by the establishment of innovative and experimental classes and colleges at some domestic universities. However, some new problems emerged as the reform in cultivation model for top talents moving forward.
        At the opening ceremony, Vice Secretary of CAHE Ms. Ye Zhihong pointed out the urgency in  communication and exchange of experience in the cultivation of top innovative talents. All representatives present here were appreciated, for their initiative practice and research which serve as exploration cases contributed desirably to the development of higher education in top innovative talents cultivation and the growing innovative education practice.
        Initiated by Northwest A & F University, Beijing University, Zhejiang University, Nanjing University and Sichuan University, the seminar was hosted by Chinese Association of Higher Education while sponsored by A &F. Executive Vice-President of A & F, Professor Zhao Zhong addressed the opening ceremony. Principals of other departments and colleges concerned, along with part of graduate students attended the seminar.
        Ever since its establishment in July, 2008, College of Innovative Experiment has been playing a leading role in the exploration that focuses on the cultivation of top--notch innovative talents and educational model reform in general education. Three-year trial and error turns out to be valuable and fruitful. At the seminar, Dean of Innovative Experimental College of A& F, Professor Wang Guodong made the presentation on Exploration in New Model in Top Innovative Talents Cultivation at Agricultural and Forestry University.
