Professor Yu Ziqiao Offered Advice and Suggestion for NWAFU

On the morning of May 6th, Professor Yu Ziqiao(Emeritus Professor of University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Dean of NWAFU Youren College) attended the seminar in room 412 of NWAFU International Exchange Center. The head of NWAFU Academic Affairs Division, International Cooperation and Exchange Division, College of Food Science and Engineering, College of Enology and College of Experimental Innovation (CIE) participated in the meeting which was presided over by CIE Dean, Mr. Ou Wenjun.

The meeting focused on the NWAFU’s international cooperation and exchange, students’ projects of overseas study and the cultivation of students’ international vision. The deputy director of NWAFU Academic Affairs Division, Madame Li Julan, introduced the international study projects in terms of its budget and channels. The deputy director of NWAFU International Cooperation and Exchange Division, Madame Yu Ying, reported to the guest the operation and development of NWAFU international cooperation. Then, the delegates of College of Food Science and Engineering, College of Enology and CIE briefed their college specialties in disciplines, construction of teaching staff, students international exchange programs and the cultivation of students’ international vision. He would spare no effort to promote the cooperation between NWAFU and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, wine companies of California and Kyung Hee University of South Korea, and also provide some financial support for the students’ overseas study and tour.

Professor Yu spoke highly of the NWAFU’s practices in international cooperation and two “First Class University” projects. He pointed out that, agriculture is the root and base for a nation and agricultural science is the top issue. He felt honored to be linked with NWAFU and would bridge the communication between NWAFU and the world-class universities in America. As to the undergraduate program, Mr. Yu stressed repeatedly the college students’ role of national hope and leading force of future world, thus, to help the students to set practical goals and to think with international vision is as important as to teach them professional knowledge.
