CIE Organized Emergency Training
From: Student Affairs Office      By: Zhao Xuan      Date: 2018-03-19

“I find someone lying on the ground. Conditions on site are safe. Current time is 3 o’clock pm Beijing Time…” On the afternoon of March 16th, Wang Huaming from the university infirmary brought a first-aid training to CIE students in order to popularize emergency knowledge and improve college students’ comprehensive quality.

This training included theoretical learning and practical operation. Mr. Wang first introduced cardiopulmonary resuscitation from the theoretical perspective. CPR is an emergency measure to revive a patient whose heart has stopped beating, in which compressions applied with the hands to the patient's chest are alternated with mouth-to-mouth respiration. Mr. Wang also specified the cases for adults, pregnant women, and kids respectively, and elaborated on the standard procedure of CPR which included assessing consciousness, seeking help, checking airway, mouth-to-mouth breathing, and chest compression, etc. In the end, Mr. Wang said, “In the case of cardiac standstill, it is possible to save the person with bare hand.”

The following session was the practical operation on the patient simulator. Facing the emergency, Mr. Wang showed the students how to respond: assess the patient’s conditions, conduct chest compression and mouth-to-mouth breath … the students applied the theoretical knowledge into practice in turn and eventually familiarized with the basic CPR procedure.

Zhao Xingyu said, “I have heard about this emergency measure. Through this training, I understand the standard procedure and participate into the practical operation. This is indeed a useful skill, but many people do not have adequate knowledge for basic emergency measures. I hope more and more people can grasp this skill.”

This CPR training helped the students understand the importance of emergency measure, mastered the basic CPR procedure, and improved students’ overall quality.
