CIE Made Full Preparation for NWAFU Sports Meeting
From: Student Affairs Office      By: Zhao Xuan      Date: 2018-04-16

NWAFU’s annual sports meeting is expected in the middle of April. To present CIE students’ positive spiritual outlook and good physical fitness, CIE steadily carried out a series of preparatory work, and the students and the teachers cooperated with each other and devoted themselves fully to the training.

Athletes in the sports field

Athlete registration and training were orderly carried out because of the careful planning and organization of CIE’s Youth League Commission and Student Union. Students also actively signed up for competition events, fun sports programmes, and waist drum team, upholding the belief to win glory for the college and present the best of themselves. To avoid overlapping with self-learning, the training schedule was staggered to 6:10pm – 7:10pm during which the students made full use of every minute to train for the collective honour. Talking about the experience of training, Liu Dongning said, “I’ll treasure this training and competition opportunity and work with my peers to bring outstanding awards to CIE.”

Contingent’s evening training

CIE also organized a 98-people contingent. Every evening around 9:30pm, the students would stand in orderly ranks for the training. The training was arranged after the self-learning session to avoid time conflict. After a whole day of learning, the students were still energetic and enthusiastic about the training. Liu Caiji from Class 1604 was the trainer, under whose instruction the contingent training was well-organized: from initial position arrangement to quick march with music, and from individual queue training to overall contingent marching. CIE counsellors were also on site for instruction. After a few evenings’ training, the contingent marching received great improvement.

Milk encouragement

Every time after the training, each participant would receive a bag of milk as reward. When talking about feelings, Zhao Xingyu said, “this embodies the college’s care for us. A bag of milk will not only ease our anxiety but also improve the efficiency of the next day’s training.”

After a while of training, the athletes’ fitness received obvious improvement and the contingent also made remarkable progress. Through this training, CIE students will become more united and will present a more determined and confident outlook in the university’s sports meeting.
