On April 18th, a league lecture on official document writing, given by counsellor Wang Aiqin from the College of Water Resources and Architectural Engineering, was held in the multimedia classroom. CIE’s Mission Work Committee Secretary Yin Boyan, Department of Foreign Languages’ Mission Work Committee Secretary Yin Chuansong, and the students of Grade 2017 from the Department of Foreign Languages attended the lecture.

Wang Aiqin elaborated on official document’s definition and language features and how to improve writing skills in the lecture. He shared his writing and working experiences with the students through humorous language and interesting examples. He also encouraged the students to pay attention to writing and make use of available platforms on campus to improve writing proficiency.

Official document is an important tool for office work and business affairs and is endowed with legal validity. Common types include letter, instruction request, report, and summary etc., each owning different characteristics and requirements. Wang Aiqin also pointed out that official document writing should be concise and precise and avoid empty talks.

At the end of the lecture, Mr. Wang shared his experience of improving writing skills and highlighted the importance of daily accumulation to writing. He also hoped that students apply what they have learnt into practice, read more and exercise more, and eventually make progress in writing.
