In response to the call of the National College Student Mental Health Day, to enrich students’ campus life and exercise their reasoning and teamwork skills, the third Sherlock Holmes Inference Contest was held and rounded off days ago. The competition consists of two parts, the preliminary and final. On the evening of May 11th, the preliminary was held at the No. 4 and No. 6 teaching buildings simultaneously. More than 400 contestants participated the grand activity. Finnaly, the top 8 groups with the highest score entered the finals. The patterns of challenge at the preliminary were mainly inference questions, sudoku questions, and optimal programs, which examined the students' observation ability and logical reasoning ability. The students were fully absorbed in the event, examining the questions carefully and analyzing meticulously. In the end, the scores calculated by the staff were evaluated and eight groups were selected--- “Tathāgata” group, "Oh, Oya, Oya" group, "Mount Wutaishan"group, "Dabaiba "group, "Police for Major Cimes" group, "Not Yet" group, the “adorkable girl” group and the “Rataional” group.

In the finals, there are three sessions---Mind Palace, Memory Labyrinth, and Master of Reasoning. Mind Palace was to provide multiple choice questions for players to answer after careful consideration. A certain gap between the scores of each group were seen when this session finished. In the Mmemory Labyrinth, each group watched a 3-minute video clip, and then answered the questions raised by the hosts. Although some of the quesitons were chanllenging, the teams have not been afraid and fully mobilized their memory to give answers. The final part was the Reasoning Master. Each group was required to infer the truth of the case according to the clues from the host's verbal statement and the simple pictures on the screen. The judges voted for the best reasoning team and awarded them the title of the King of Holmes' Reasoning. The questions are closely related to each other, and the student's meticulous thinking and contingency cooperation skills were fully inspected. The players were very capable and united, demonstrating a superb response level. In the interactive session, the audience was active to get involved in.

After the fierce competition, “Police for Major Cimes” group took the crown. At the end of the event, souvenirs and certificates were presented to the groups and the Sherlock Holmes Reasoning King medal was awarded to the championship group.
