　　报告人简介：

　　Dr. John Prescott is Professor of veterinary bacteriology at the Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph, Canada.

　　He graduated from Cambridge DVM (1973) and PhD (1977). He moved to Canada and has worked at Guelph since 1976.  He is best known for his interest in improving how we use antibiotics in animals (“Antimicrobial therapy in veterinary medicine”, 4th edition 2006), and for his papers on Rhodococcus equi. His recent interest is in Clostridium perfringens and in Necrotic Enteritis of chickens.

　　He was made fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences in 2009. He was the Editor-in-chief of “Veterinary Microbiology” from 1999-2005, and is on the board of the Journal. He has acted as ad hoc reviewer for many other journals, as well as for grants and programs. He was the Chair of the Department of Pathobiology from 2003-2008. He was a member of the Council, Canadian Veterinary Medical Association, where he served on both the National Issues Committee and the Prudent Use of Antimicrobial Drugs Committee. He has published over 220 scientific papers.
