On the request of the school meeting on the returning of the postgraduates and undergraduates in the spring semester 2020, CIE followed the university’s arrangements and mobilized students, faculty and staff members to work together on the frontline of the health check on the returners.
At the beginning, the college mentors confirmed the list of returners by telephoning each student one by one, and then recruited volunteers. On April 27, all the seven student volunteers came back to university and joined the workforce immediately after the health check.
At the work sites across the campus, the volunteers was responsible for inspecting the documents including letters of school returning, safety undertakings, student cards and health QR codes, taking students’ temperature and issuing gate passes for students living off-campus. Although the work was fairly basic, it was made with immense amount of time, patience and love.
From early morning till midnight, from the student accommodation to the school gate, the volunteers sacrificed their rest time, sticking to their post in the scorching sun, only for giving students who just returned to school the first warm greetings and care. They devoted themselves to making a safety net for students’ health and a delightful campus.
As the saying goes, you may not be the one who shares success but the one who works to create success. During the time of welcoming students back to school, helping every student return safe and sound is everyone’s wish.
