| | Recently, our college introduces tutorial system to advance the reform and innovation of students’ affairs and enhance its pragmaticality, for meeting the demands of reform in cultivating top-notch innovative talents and giving full play of educational function of team of students’ affairs.
Our college optimizes the team structure of students’ affairs, and joins the efforts to better the students’ ideological education, cultural quality education and innovative ability improvement, in the way of setting up Academic Supervisor System, Humanities Supervisor System and Students’ Affairs Counselor System.
Academic supervisors are responsible for the education of politics and ideology, education of discipline, design of professional life, construction of excellent learning atmosphere, instruction to the excellent students and the cultivation of discipline view and academic spirit. Meanwhile, they are supposed to guide the students to establish a firm thought of ideological disciplines to serve agriculture, forestry, research of life science with the fine quality and literacy.
Humanities instructors are responsible for mental health education, civilized habits, eloquence and language skills, social manners and communication abilities, and guide students to be more civilized and elegant.
Instructor of Student Affairs is responsible for ideological and political education and daily management of students, coordination of academic tutors, and other duty affairs. They are required to do a good job of monitoring and evaluating students’ behavior.
Starting from 2010 undergraduate students, 30-50 students college will be equipped with an academic mentor selected from young scholars or retired professor whose academic research is relevant to the disciplines of students, while 200-250 student with one cultural quality instructor from instructors of College of Humanities, Ideological Department or Physics Department. Student affairs counselors and instructors will be taken by the part-time counselor assistant. Selection criterion refers to Headteachers’ Working Regulation of Northwest A&F University.
Meanwhile, our college practices Discipline-Base Class as primary organization system. Discipline-base class is established in accordance with discipline categories for the free choice of students and dynamic management of college. All the classes are required to be equipped with Class Affairs Committee and Youth League Branch.
Currently, the reform has been officially launched and has been taken seriously by university leaders and other departments who offer great support and perspectives as well, which encourage the implement of this new model to enrich the experience in reform of student affairs.
