Involving in STIP, Fulfilling the Academic Dreams

    On the evening of April 15th, College of Innovation Experiment and College of Life Science Cooperatively Organized the Report Participating in Scientific and Technological Research Programme (STRP), Fulfilling the Academic Dreams in classroom N8T03 on north campus. Director of Watershed Ecology Management and Research Office in Institute of Water and Soil Conservation of A&F, doctoral supervisor Professor Liang Zongsuo was invited to deliver an academic speech for the student of grade 2010 from the two colleges. In addition, winner of national scholarship and host of national STIP, student from College of Innovation and Experiment Zhang Tianying gave another speech, sharing his experience in STRP with fellow students.

    Before voicing his own perspectives, Professor Liang initiated his report with three inspiring questions---What is the expected STRP in your mind? What do you expect to learn at university? How are STRP and academic study related? Having listened to the replys from students, he revealed his answers to those questions with illustration of his personal experience in study and scientific research.

    As professor Liang pointed out, college students are supposed to focus on and progress in learning professional knowledge, broadening personal vision, improving comprehensive qualities, keeping fit and remains open-minded. When it comes to the relationship between scientific and technological research experiment and academic study, taking an example of the class in his charge when he served as Dean of College of Life Science, he informed the students the stimulating role STRP plays in the development of academic study. Based on a good command of professional knowledge, he said, students were encouraged to be more active in Challenge Cup and College Students' Innovative Experiment Projects. To engage in exploring can improve abilities to view things with innovative thought and to solve problems effectively.

    Showing the STRP he presides over, Zhang Tianying introduced the application procedures, implement and some other details in the project, with the illustration of a host of vivid pictures and reliable statistics. He also shared his feelings that participating in STIP can bring a lot of benefits to the participants. Namely, it enables one to better understand his major, to develop one's interest in his discipline, to make one be more independent thinking, cooperative and communicative. He also figured out that students should keep alarm in daily life and be sensitive in the information concerning disciplinary development. Great efforts are necessary for one to accumulate knowledge and to improve the abilities to find and address the problems. Then, one can enjoy more in the process of mutual promotion between professional study and practice in scientific and technological innovation.

    Application of STIP in this year on its way to commerce. This report exert profound influence on the students via furthering their understanding of this project and offering sensible answers to questions in launching the project, which lay solid foundation for the application and conduction of STIP for the students of grade 2010.
