| | On the afternoon of 12th September, the Modern University System and College Education Seminar was held by A&F Innovative Experimental College in the hall of Xiushan center. Dean of A &F Youren college Mr. Yu Ziqiao, former president of Chinese University of Hongkong professor Liu Zunyi, Director of College Affairs Office of Shanheng College Chinese University of Hongkong Professor Liu Yiqi, experts from Zhejiang University, East China Normal University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Northwest University, Wuhan Textile University, representatives of Shaanxi Yu Youren Calligraphy Association, Mr. Yu Youren Museum of Sanyuan Shaanxi, A&F alumni associations attended the seminar for the discussion of college education and teaching reform at modern university. Dean of A&F Innovative Experimental College professor Chen Yuchun served as the host, as representatives from A&F Academic Affairs office, Student Affairs Office and other college joined the seminar.
Director of College Affairs Office of Shanheng College Chinese University of Hongkong Professor Liu Yiqi first introduced the development of college education at domestic and overseas first-class universities. Then he introduced the characteristics of college education at Chinese University of Hongkong, explaining the holistic education, caring education, and the continuity of affinity between mentors and their students.
Party Secretary of Meng Xiancheng College East China Normal Univeristy Mz. Wu Wei introduced Meng Xiancheng College. As the first college for normal university student, it has been aiming at building a community different from but complementary with academic-study-centered college, a paradise for students to develop their interests and hobbies on their own. It has also been an approach to develop students morality and manners, as well as creating the good learning environment.
Deputy Party Secretary of Zhu Kezhen College Zhejiang Univeristy Mz. Zhong Rongrong introduced the college management and the personalized system for outstanding student cultivation. She pointed out that Zhu Kezhen has always giving priority to the ideological and cultural education, to form the culture of elite that honorary college enjoyed, and to cultivate top-notch talents with vision and thoughts.
Director of College Affairs Office of Peng Kang College Xi’an Jiaotong University Mr. Su Yubo introduced the practice and philosophy of their college system. The Peng Kang College has been working on creating a service system for students’ study and life at college, a training program for students comprehensive abilities, and a student-centered management system,to cultivate talents of nobility and high morality.
Last, Dean of CIE professor Chen Yuchun made the concluding report. He pointed out that, the establishment of Youren College was a significant practice of A&F in exploring new talent cultivation method in modern higher-education system, which symbolized the continuity of A&F accomplishment in the past 80-year education. Youren College has finished the primary construction and the educational activities have been and will be held. The college spirit of Pursing Excellence with Joint Effort of Teachers and Students will be formed. It is believed that, lead by the Dean Mr. Yu Ziqiao, the Youren College will be developed to a new stage of reform in A&F student management and a paradise of students self-study and self-management, when we keep integrating ideological education, general education and personality-development education.
