Recently, with the help of the supportive mentors from receiving colleges, our college has been organizing several lab tours for the students better understanding the research practice. Students from base classes and experiment classes of grade 2011 visited the research labs of A&F, furthering their understanding of the research and its beauty.
 
Since the undergraduate program is operated in the model of “2+X” in our college and the majors are offered in accordance with the academic categories, the students may partly got confronted with the confusions in choosing the research orientation and their mentors. Therefore, our college organized several lab tours for the students, which timely serves to further students understanding of the research platform in A&F. In consequence, the students will get more goal-oriented and well-prepared for the innovative experiment application and mentor choosing.
                   
This activity consists of two phases. In the first stage, the students of base class and experiment class of grade 2011, with the guide of senior students Zhang Huili, Bi Wenlu, Sun Xun and Chen Long, visited the labs of Professor Wang Qiaochun and Professor Ma Fengwang from Horticultural College and Professor Xu Jinrong from Plant Protection College. The patient senior students introduced to the visitor students the research orientation, the project being conducted and the recent development of each lab. In addition, they gave shows on how the instruments and equipments work, further the younger students’ understanding of research. The tours enjoyed great popularity among our college students, from which they benefited much and had their horizon broadened. Additionally, the senior students were responsive to the questions from the younger students, illustrating with personal experience and offering constructive suggestions.
 
The second is still being prepared in which our college students will visit the professors’ labs in Agronomy College, Forestry College and Resources and Environment College for more desirable joy in life science.
