| It is shared that April and May are the keys of the years. College Symposium of Appointed Bio-Science Courses in 2012 spring was held in the college assembly room on the afternoon of March 28, 2012, which was expected to push forward the teaching of our college. Besides dozens of teachers in charge of Bio-Science courses and all faculty of our college, the Deputy Director of A&F Academic Affairs Department Li Haihua, the Associate Dean of Life Science College Hu Jingjiang, and the Associate Dean of Agronomy College Hai Jiangbo were present at the meeting. The Associate Dean of our college Wang Jun presided over the meeting.
At the symposium, teachers from Agronomy College and Life Science College shared with others their innovative thoughts and practices applied to the teaching. Their experience in the reform of traditional teaching methods, the appeal for enhancing the students’ awareness of independent study and their emphasis on improving the innovative ability were also the voices of other teachers. From their perspectives, traditional teacher-centered teaching method should be replaced by student-centered interactive teaching, for which can help students associate the professional knowledge with practice via efficient learning. Test paper design, evaluation methods and criteria of undergraduate students, connecting between the courses, teaching methods in laboratory courses in Bio-Science and curriculum schedule of laboratory courses were involved in the discussion at the meeting.
This symposium, on the one hand, would greatly promote the communication among teachers and serve to optimize the teaching system in Life Science discipline. On the other hand, it provides a shared stage for the teachers, Academic Affairs Department and colleges for practicing new teaching methods and educational reform, which would also improve the teaching quality of innovative experimental classes.
