| To better the promotion of teaching reform and the surety of teaching quality, on November 17th, 2011, our college conducted student's symposiums of each grade respectively. College Dean Professor Wang Guodong, Party Secretary of College Branch Professor Chen Yuchun, Associate Dean Wang Jun and Deputy Party Secretary of College Branch Qu Yunfeng, along with other college faculty in charge of teaching and students affairs presented the symposiums.
The serie of symposiums was platform our college offered for the students to voice their ideas in college affairs of teaching, management and disciplinary construction. At the symposium, all student representatives were active to air their views in curriculum, teaching methodology, and their feedbacks. All college authorities were responsive to offer replys and open to gave the students some suggestions over the course arrangement and problems confronting the students. The students representatives shared the idea that all students stayed hard-working and the teaching went on smoothly at the time being. Both curriculum of general education and professional education went well with the features and requirements of our college students, some of which were inspiring and inviting for the varieties of class activity. The teaching quality have greatly got improved and the teaching reform have progressed significantly. Yet few of courses laid too much burden on the students as too much information and intense work were required.
The symposium went on in lively atmosphere, at which the students were expressive while the college leaders were responsive. Meanwhile, the leaders also showed their concern over the student life, especially the time allotment during the first two years of strenuous work. Our college will keep optimizing the curriculum in the way of sparing more class hours for self study to see to the efficient teaching and learning. When it came to the student-centered course election, cross-disciplines were highly valued and strongly recommended. The students were encouraged to minor in other discipline-related courses on the condition of the fulfilment of the major courses, to further target the education program.
