"We drink water for living;we drink tea for living better. Life is by no means only for surviving, but for poem and future." Recently, in the CCTV-1 program Chinese Poem Contest, Xue Yuhan, a senior student from Northwest A & F University, stood out among hundreds of contestants, and kept the first place in the second session of the competition. She took the crown by perfectly answering all ten questions. The speech she made at the end of her show impressed the audience deeply.
Xue Yuhan was admitted to NWAFU in 2012. At present, she is an exam-exempted postgraduate admitted to college of life science of Wuhan University, majored in virus immunity. The popular TV program, Chinese Poem Contest, is conducted in the form of one answering a hundred people’s questions, and the session like challenging winners is included. Four cultural celebrities such as Kang Zhen, Meng Man, Li Bo and Wang Liqun, were honored guests in the contest, who gave wonderful comments during the contest.
Xue Yuhan, a poem enthusiast, enjoyed the competition for the sake of competition process only. “ I am very happy to have the chance to enjoy the poems and appreciate the charm of it. Though I didn’t stick to the final session, I did have a wonderful time on the stage.” Born in a family full of poem lovers, she has been keen on reading ever since her infancy, particularly on reading classics and poems of Tang and Song dynasties. “I love literature. And reading is my hobby. However, hobby doesn’t have to be major. So I chose to major in science and my hobby of reading can always be my hobby only.”
Speaking of the future life, she said: “I intend to further my study to doctoral degree. And I am to change my major to virus immunity and work on the research of this field. Literature will be my motivation and pastime. When I get settled down, I will have more time reading and writing, but they will not be my bywork. Life should be wonderful and colorful. Poem, is to be enjoyed and to be loved.”
