On the afternoon of May 27th, Mr. Jin Cheng from Micro-organism Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences came to CIE and gave a wonderful academic report to over one hundred CIE students. Mr. Ou Wenjuan (Dean of CIE) and Mr. Wang Xiaoping (Associate Dean of CIE) attended the report as well.
The Micro-organism Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences where Mr. Jin works for possesses a national key lab going for the research of fungal protein glycosylation, archea protein glycosylation, polysaccharide of bacteria, microbial genomics and bio-informatics. Mr. Jin focused on the Function and Evolution of Archea and Fungal Protein Glycosylation Modification. His report begins with filamentous bacteria and fungi, running to the modification of glycosylation in regulating the translocation and polarized growth of cell proteins, furthering to the research of structure and function of archea glycosylation, familiarizing the students with their research achievements and future plan. The reporter and the audience had a thorough communication at the Q&A session.
This informative report, on one hand, broadened the students’ horizon of bio-science research. On the other hand, it greatly inspires and encourages the students in scientific research.
