On the evening of September 7th, CIE held orientation meeting for Year2016 students at which CIE Deputy Party Secretary Qu Yunfeng, CIE students’ counselors and all Year 2016 students were present. To view the university life and study with proper values is a decisive factor of students’ adaptation to new life here. Therefore, themed on The Highest Eminence Is To Be Gained Step By Step And Initiated With Self-reflection, CIE Dean, Mr. Ou Wenjun explained to the audience the current higher education and interpret the connotation of study, ability and morality. 

Mr. Ou introduced the excellent students graduating with honorary titles, analyzing the reasons of their outstanding academic performance. The success of one’s study lies profoundly on his goal, his right attitude, the accumulation of knowledge and the effort he put. In addition to the focus on course study, one is supposed to learn how to learn, how to practice, how to communicate and how to survive independently, Mr. Ou said. Competence to be acquired in university refers to cognitive competence, action competence, overall-control capacity and exploration ability. He stressed that ability was tantamount to” do” and “ think”. To pitch into practice and explore new knowledge from practice will help to improve one’s profession skills and personal comprehensive abilities. Besides, morality has always been playing an essential role in regulating one’s behavior. A young student is required to be self-regulated, self-disciplined and self-reflected, to shoulder the responsibilities with a great heart. Last, Mr. Ou generalized some common phenomena in university life with “5 Normals” and “10 Abnormals”. He hoped the new students would get along well with their peers with empathy and explore the unknown world with innovation and courage. 

To be well-prepared for the new life at university means right cognition to university study and life. Feasible and instructive plan is a fundamental element, too. CIE is to held series to orientation meetings and reports for Y2016 students. Numbers of experienced teachers will gave inspiring reports on register management, habit formation, academic plan and understanding of one’s major.
