Year 2016 CIE students were greatly inspired by CIE Party Secretary, Mz. Li Haihua’s speech on the evening of Sep 28th. The report, titled Are U Prepared For Your New Life at NWAFU?, was expected to help the new comers better go through the orientation period of college life at CIE.

“To help you lead a satisfactory life at college is one of our missions assigned by our identity of teachers.” Mz. Li said at the beginning of the report. The mission of education in China prioritizes the moral education over other goals. Therefore, to fulfill the socialism core values with the principles of Respect, Responsibility, Benevolence and Integrity rank the top of self-actualization needs. In addition to the CIE achievements in teaching, research and talents’ cultivation, she then introduced the special curriculum offered for CIE students, which further the listeners’ understanding of cultivation program.   

The identity of a CIEer is also associated with more exclusive opportunities. What you are supposed to learn besides professional knowledge? What kinds of abilities you are supposed to obtain at college for your life after graduation? The answered were found in Mz. Li’s speech---The college life is not only about professional knowledge, research ability and critical thinking, but the mix with literacy of humanities and social science and the abilities to live and learn, to cooperate and to adapt make it complete. 

Mz. Li encouraged the student to study and live with the philosophy of unity of knowledge and practice and to regulate ones behaviors with socialism core values. She also hoped that the new comers would soon fall in love with the new family and would be proud of being a CIEer. 

The inspiring and informative speech is considered another great success of orientation education organized by CIE. Chaos and confusion that all new students once bothered as they stepped into the new phase of life, are soon giving their way to the confidence and hopes.
