To answer the call of national campaign of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Dean of CIE Mr. Ou Wenjun gave the new CIEers a report on the evening of Oct. 13th. Focusing on The Cultivation of College Students’ Entrepreneurship and Innovation Spirit, the report greatly furthered the students’ understanding of talent cultivation model of CIE and motivated them in scientific research.

“ There are many others missions that a university is required to fulfill,” Mr. Ou pointed out that, “ In addition to the responsibility in talent cultivation, a university has been assigned the missions of promoting research, community service, cultural inheritance and innovation spirit.” On the morning of 13th when State Education Commission visited NWAFU for an inspection in innovative cultivation model, the committee members gave many instructions to CIE, “ The talent cultivation takes priority over any other missions assigned to a university. Led by the Party, a university is supposed to be dedicated to the talent cultivation with Chinese style socialism and hold the firm belief that scientific research is a vital factor in social development. “ In Mr. Ou’s speech, he said, “ If were not for the research development, the primary mission of education would not have been fulfilled, the innovation and talents cultivation would not have been possible.” As denoted in the 17th CPC National Congress, to carry forward traditional culture and to explore new field are an unity ever. Inheritance is the foundation of innovation while innovation is the development of inheritance. Our talents are all for the society and the revival of our nation. Mr. Ou encouraged the students to make their contribution to China Dream by equipping themselves well with knowledge and capability. 

It has been denoted in the 18th CPC National Congress that the construction of Chinese style socialism is a mission for all youth in China. The Party has prioritized all issues related to the young generation. “ Innovation means more than a personal ability, but also a key to prosperity of our nation and our country.” Mr. Ou then specified the notion of innovation in terms of its significance, spiritual connotation and capability cultivation. Innovation is the constant impetus of national prosperity. The essence of innovation is to explore. Doing research is an essential approach to the cultivation of innovative spirit and ability. 

The student-conducted experiment, scientific research program and research training program are all well-designed for the CIE students. Defense on project proposal, in-term evaluation and conclusion report are under the supervision of evaluation panel, as Mr. Ou explained the talent cultivation model conducted by CIE. Research training is a major way of students’ acquiring knowledge, which enables the integration of knowledge and confidence in overcoming difficulties challenging their pursuit of academic achievements. The unit of knowing and doing will always be our desirable standard. Mr. Ou suggested the students that reading papers be the key procedure in research while persistence the decisive factor. 

Before concluding his speech, Mr. Ou aired his expectations, “ I wish you all be talents with spirit of pursuing prominence, with comprehensive qualities of knowledge, ability and proficiency, with characters of honesty, aesthetic appreciation, dedication and erudition. “
