On the afternoon of November 12th, Poster Exhibition and Competition of Y2016 NWAFU Innovation Training Project for College Students sponsored by NWAFU Academic Affairs Office and Youren College was held on the Cultural Square of Youren College. At its launch in October, the competition has had over hundred students involved in the meeting, designs collection and preliminary. 32 works from College of Food Science and Engineering, College of Enology, College of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering, College of Plant Protection and College of Innovative Experiment won the seats for the final competition. The panel of the final were professors from College of Life Science, College and Plant Protection, College of Food Science and Engineering, College of Enology, College of Sciences, College of Animal Science and College of Veterinary Medicine and College of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering, and heads of Academic Affairs Division, Student Affairs Division, Science and Technology Development Institute, Propaganda Department and Youth League Committee. There are two first prizes, three second prize and five third prizes awarded to 43 student contestants.

At 2:30 p.m., director of Academic Affairs Division, NWAFU, Professor Chen Yulin address the opening ceremony, marking the commence of the event. He pointed out that the innovative training project was a major approach in developing the college students’ abilities of innovation, research and practice. The exhibition is playing a leading role in improving the qualities of talents.

It encouraged the student to eye on the academic frontier and innovative ability improvement. The competition is also a way of communication through which the students were greatly inspired. In addition, it broadened the students’ vision in academy and freed their imagination, improve their creativity and research ability. Next, Professor Liu Tongxian from College of Plant Protection delivered a speech as mentor representative. He spoke highly of the poster exhibition, advocating it as a platform of innovative thoughts. Innovation is surpassing and walking ahead of the average people in thinking and doing, which deserves our great emphasis. To profoundly promote the innovation means to further the communication and improve the abilities. 

In the two-hour event, the mentors gave the students several instructive suggestions on the posters. The contestants also had heated discussion with their fellows rivals and audiences.

This activity effectively motivated the students to pursue for knowledge and enthusiasm in scientific innovation ability. It is a stimuli of further and all-around communication between students and colleges, making great contribution to the high-quality talents cultivation.
