On the afternoon of May 12th, in the multimedia-equipped classroom on the ground floor of CIE building, CIEers welcome Professor Ma Xiaolong from Xi’an Jiaotong University who gave an intriguing lecture on Biomimetics in Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine.

As one of the excellent experts of Frontier Institute of Science and Technology, Xi’an Jiaotong University, professor Ma brought the most instructive information package to the audience of NWAFU,in which general introduction to the institute, the on-going research and tissue engineering research were major topics . He started his report from the development of tissue engineering research which was inspired by the patients’ loss of organs and the problematic consequences of transplantation application. He pointed out that this research field will see a bright future when it comes to innovative application of new materials in tissue engineering. 

Speaking of his first contact with Tissue Engineering research, he shared his experience in how to deal with challenges with pat solutions. Vividly, his journey reappeared in front of audience and further their understanding of the significance of Tissue Engineering research.  As to Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine, professor Ma stated at great length his ideas of quickening the development of their application. After the report, he had a deep talk with the students and encouraged them to forge ahead on the way of innovation and invention.

During his stay in Yangling, Professor Ma and his colleagues, Doctor Meng Xiangli (Associate Dean of Frontier Institute of Science and Technology, Xi’an Jiaotong University) and Mz. Gao Shujun (Director of Student Affairs Office) exchanged ides of top-notch talents cultivation with CIE Dean Mr. Ou Wenjun. 　

Professor Ma Xiaolong---the leading professor of Bio-engineering and Regenerative Medicine Research Center, one of the first group scientists initiating research in Tissue Engineering Scaffolds, Tenure Professor of University of Michigan, US; Director of Bio-engineering and Regenerative Medicine Research Center of Frontier Institute of Science and Technology, Xi’an Jiaotong University. He is also the 76th Scientist on Thomson Reuters’ Top 100 Materials Scientists List, 2000-2010.
