Every graduation season and new academic year will witness piles of textbooks and study materials being sold to the recycling station at a very low price, while junior students cannot find required reading materials. To solve these two problems with one stroke, Youren College decides to build a new platform.

Sharing economy has sprung up along with the progress of Internet technology. Textbooks among others might also possess the quality of “sharing”. With this in mind, Youren College proposes to build a service platform of “Sharing Textbook” in CIE for a trial.

CIE has been dedicated to cultivating high-end innovative undergraduates with excellent scientific research capacity and broad international perspective. English original textbooks from the first-rate international institutions like Wageningen University, New Mexico State University, and University of Nebraska-Lincoln have been introduced. The “Sharing Textbook” platform allows the students who take the course borrow the textbooks for free. When the course ends, relevant textbooks are filed up for the next round usage. The adoption of English original textbooks enriches the students’ knowledge and supports the teachers’ lectures. Recycling, on the other hand, has contributed to the environment protection and developed students’ economy consciousness.

The platform also supports used book sharing. Books donated by the graduate students have been classified and filed, and junior students can take what they need. Donations and borrowings are all conducted in rigorous registration system. To date, the platform has established cooperations with society clubs so as to promote the sharing resources and expand the sharing scope.

The platform’s sharing ideology has gone beyond the textbook. Youren College aims to share education and knowledge, and endeavors to create a favorable academic environment. Management system covering filing, borrowing, operating has been established. And at the beginning of the new term, the platform will call for book recommendations. Personnel are also arranged to conduct daily operation. Various policies have been employed for the development of sharing education.

Nearly twelve months’ practice has been well received by the students so far. The rational utilization of textbooks and other education resources has exerted positive influence on the sharing education.

Youren College will continue its leading position in moral education and optimize the sharing education system
