The finale of Poster Show and Competition started at 14:30. Wang Junru, vice director of Teaching Affairs Office, gave speech at the opening ceremony. He pointed out that the practice of college student innovation training was an important and effective approach to develop college students’ innovation ability, scientific research ability, and hands-on skills. There were two progresses in this year’s event: more colleges involved; more English posters were exhibited. Wang Junru also expressed his hopes that the students should take the initiative to explore in scientific researches and actively develop personal innovation and creativity. Last but not least, everyone should communicate with each other so as to grow and progress together.
During this two-hour event, the judges carefully listened to the students’ presentations and provided detailed suggestions. Other student audiences also actively participated into the show and communicated with the contestants.
Professor Liu Shuwen, vice dean of College of Encology. said that this is the second time he attended the poster show. This year’s event was larger than the previous one with more colleges and more students involving. The poster and presentation not only demonstrate the students’ research progresses; they also provided an opportunity for students to exercise themselves. Professor Liu also expressed the wish of seeing more comprehensive and organized posters and more applicable researches in the future.
Professor Hua Jinlian, vice dean of College of Veterinary Medicine professor, highly appreciated the event, “I can feel students’ active thinking and full confidence. The form of poster show can strengthen the communications between different colleges, teachers, and even alumni. There is development room for the posters in respect of aesthetics and display. Experimental results can be shown as complete as possible by concise words, data analysis, and pictures. I hope to see students’ progress in techniques as well as skills.”
Professor Pei Zhichao, vice secretary of Innovation Experimental College, said, “apart from showing research project, this event also allows students to explore and understand the field of scientific innovation. Although CIE is the leading character of this event, we see more participations from other colleges this year, which will improve inter-college communications and develop students’ overall competence.” Professor Pei also placed great expectations on the future events, and hoped the researches could produce more papers published in the internationally renowned academic journals.
Liu Jing from College of Horticulture said that this is the first time she attended such an academic event which allowed her to present her two-year research. She received guidance from the judges and the advice was significant to her future research. Through this event, she accumulated professional experience and improved personal ability.
Zhang Yijun from Innovation Experimental College said, “this is a chance to exercise and demonstrate ourselves. I treasure this event a lot and endeavor to present my research. I also learn from the event about how to briefly summarize a scientific research, and introduced the research design and result.”
