CIE completed the checking and acceptance work of College Students Innovation Training Project of the Latter Half of 2017 on November 19th, 2017. 27 university key projects and 3 provincial key projects applying for final project measurements were divided into 2 groups and were reviewed by the 10 experts and professors from the College of Veterinary Medicine and College of Life Sciences.
The assessment group conducted checking though work logs, final project presentations, and on-site defences. The entire project team was required to attend the presentation and defence, during which the assessment group would randomly assign a member to report. Each project team had 5 minutes to introduce the project, and each member had 2 minutes to brief on their duties and gains from the project. Following the presentation was Q&A session, during which the project team would choose certain members to answer the assessment group’s questions. Such rules required every team member to fully participate in and familiarize with the project, and guaranteed that everyone joined in and learnt from the scientific innovation process.
Previous undergraduate evaluation work provided valuable reference for this assessment. While grading the scientific innovation project this time, the project work logs counted for a certain proportion in the final score.
Members on the assessment group agreed that this year’s presentation and defence were successful, and that the students had actively participated into the innovation process. The innovation and start-up projects will bring benefit to the students’ professional learning, research ability, and innovation thinking in future study and work.
Wu Wentao, who was awarded excellence in project checking and published paper in International Journal of Molecular Sciences as the firs author, expressed his feelings, “I sincerely appreciate this opportunity as it enables me to join in scientific innovation. While presiding over the project, I received systematic guidance and had a better understanding of scientific research.”
