On the afternoon of May 3rd, 2018, Ma Xiaolong, Director of Center for Biomedical Engineering and Regenerative Medicine of Frontier Institute of Science and Technology of Xi’an Jiaotong University and the lifelong professor of University of Michigan, was invited to give an academic report of “Stem Cells, Artificial Matrix and Regenerative Medicine” in the multimedia classroom on the first floor of Innovation Experimental College.

Professor Ma has long been committed to the research and development of biomedical materials and tissue engineering, experienced in biomedical polymer materials, tissue engineering, drug delivery, biomimetic, self-assembly and nanomaterials, stem cells and regenerative medicine. He is renowned as one of the earliest scientists who conducted the research of tissue engineering scaffold, highly influential in international tissue engineering biomedical materials and regenerative medicine.

Professor Ma started his report with his youth study experience, making the report light and lively. Then, he gave detailed information about biomedical materials and regenerative medicine and their research trends, combined with the content of the latest regenerative medicine conference. Professor Ma’s introduction with the help of videos is based on his own research and characterized by relaxation and humor.

After the report, Professor Ma answered the questions raised by students in detail and explained the relevant knowledge in a simple and easy way.

The report benefited students a lot by broadening their horizons, increasing their knowledge and helping them better understand scientific research and study the scientific research spirit, which laid a solid foundation for students’ future scientific research.
