On May 28th 2018, Li Haihua, CIE Party Secretary, Wang Xiaoping, CIE Associate Dean, and Zhang Hanwen,CIE student counselor, paid a visit to Wu Yuzhang College of Sichuan University to learn about their advanced experience in the cultivation of top-notch innovative talents. The inter-college talk covered the education practices in students’ selection and delection, training programme, grading and deselection, students management Management and ideological and political education.

Wu Yuzhang College of Sichuan University, also known as Wuyuzhang Honorary of Sichuan University, was established in June 2006. It is named after the old president Wu Yuzhang and is Sichuan University's implementation of top-notch innovative talents for outstanding undergraduates. The "Honoring Academy" is the highest platform for undergraduate teaching in Sichuan University (excluding Sichuan University West China Medical Center). Its predecessor was "Integrated Training Program for Innovative Talents in Sichuan University" (founded in September 2000). The Dean of college is Sichuan University President Xie Heping. The college students are renowned for their capability, brilliance, steadiness, low profile and humbleness.

At the meeting, Liu Li, the director of the Office of Education Innovation Reform of Sichuan University, gave a detailed introduction to Wu Yuzhang college in terms of its history, development, operation mechanism, management model, andseven distinctive characteristics of  its education. At the same time, she also affirmed CIE’s exploring in top-notch talents cultivation.  The two parties made in-depth communication in the new ideas of educational reform and innovation both CIE and Wu Yuzhang College made under different systems, exchanging many constructive suggestions for the future development of both colleges.

This research activity coincides with the critical period of the Double-First-Class construction of NWAFU. We hope CIE can continue to uphold the fine style as university’s and CIE’s motto say, continuously explore new ideas for work, and play well the leading role for the development of our university.
