On the morning of January 8th, the symposium on the comprehensive reform of the cultivation of agricultural and forestry talents took place in Innovation Experimental College. NWAFU Vice President Chen Yulin, NWAFU Deputy Party Secretary Lv Weidong, Director of Academic Affairs Division Chen Yuchun, Professor Wang Guodong from College of Sciences, Professor Cai Huanjie from College of Water Resources and Architectural Engineering, Professor Dai Wu from College of Plant Protection, and Party Secretary Li Haihua, Deputy Dean Wang Xiaoping, Deputy Secretary Li Xiangtuo and other office-level cadres from Innovation College attended the meeting.
At the symposium, Deputy Dean Wang gave a detailed introduction of “The Comprehensive Reform Plan of Talent Training of Innovation Experimental College” (Draft) from aspects such as guidelines, objectives, key tasks, and supporting measure.
What followed was NWAFU Vice President Chen’s speech on the general methods and the scope of the Plan. He stressed that the symposium aimed not only to implement the new agricultural and engineering construction but also to take the lead in exploring a new mode of cultivating agricultural and forestry talents in higher educational institutions.
Then,NWAFU Deputy Secretary Lv suggested the integration of the Plan with the university’s 1830 Project. Being a part of the overall reform plan of NWAFU, the Plan is committed to streamlining the management and integrating the resources between CIE and other colleges so as to develop both traditional and emerging disciplines under the background of new agricultural and engineering construction.
During the discussion session, the participants affirmed the useful experience of the talent training mode. At the same time, they analysed the current situation and existing problems and offered suggestions on the “2+1+X” training mode, the enrolment scale, the Bachelor-Master integration training mode, the assessment division mechanism, the talent training plan, the teaching faculty, and the programme construction of the new plan.
