On the evening of September 26th, Mr. Wang Xiaoping, associated dean of CIE presided over the Orientation Seminar for Y2018 students. This practice aims at enhancing the students’ understanding of university rules and regulations, and the training program of CIE. It will serve to help the students adapt to the new environment and make clear academic plan.

First, Mr. Wang gave a detailed explanation on the key points of the Administrative Measures for Undergraduate Students in Northwest A&F University, the Regulations on Disciplinary Actions of Students in Northwest A&F University, and the Rules for the Bachelor Degree of Northwest A&F University. The academic system, attendance and records, course evaluation, examination rules, record of achievements, credit scores system, bachelor's degree granting were all covered in the report. He further emphasizes the importance of these rules, hoping each freshman to understand its connotation. The students are supposed to bear in mind the importance of independent learning in university study. Only in that way can the students clearly define their own learning goals, and develop the good study habits. Besides, he also emphasizes the examination discipline. Every freshman must take the examination with integrity. Any wrongdoings against rules will not be excused.

Then Mr. Wang introduced the characteristics and specific requirements of the talent cultivation of CIE, focusing on the characteristics of the college, the training objectives, the curriculum, the “2+X” training model, the discipline-selection-mechanism, the undergraduate tutor system, and the thorough scientific research and training system. He encourages students to make full use of the good platform and high-quality resources provided in accordance with the requirements of top-notch innovative talent training. The students are encouraged to be more engaged in learning and scientific research training and more disciplined and ambitious. They will make themselves refined top-notch innovative talents with processional knowledge, strong scientific research competence and innovative spirit.

The students expressed their appreciation to this report. Liu Zeyu, a student of the Bio-tech class 1801 , shared her feelings: "I think the essence of college is the students’ cultivation. Our major task is to study. So in addition to the fun and variety of college life, we should be more dedicated to our study here. One should redouble the efforts to fulfill the learning goals and live up to the expectations of schools and colleges."

This report furthers the students’ understanding of the university rules and regulations and the CIE talent training objectives, enhances their awareness of bottom-line and rule. They are able to define their development direction, set clear goals make feasible plan for their future research and study.
