On the evening of October 28th, report on Design and Making Academic Poster given by professor Zheng Huiling from College of Animal Science was held in CIE multimedia classroom. This activity aims at supporting the coming Poster Exhibition and Competition of the Fifth NWAFU Innovation Training Project for College Students.

Professor Zheng initiated her report with the introduction to academic poster concerning its characteristics and functions. Then she explained in details the components of common academic poster and essential elements of an good poster. “Though the well-designed art form can facilitate the function of a poster, the academic value comes first ultimately”, she reminded the students of evaluating the significance and relationship between the form and content of a poster. Last, professor Zheng showed some samples of excellent posters, explaining the concept of “ highlighted titles”, “proper use of colors” and “ suitable font size” for a good academic poster.

After the report, the students gave the first draft of their academic posters that they had prepared. Professor Zheng carefully reviewed and commented one by one. The activity has furthered the students’ understand the characteristics and significance of academic posters, enhanced their ability to design and make academic posters, and improved their comprehensive quality in research.
