From May 9th to 12th, CIE paid visits to Southern University of Science and Technology, BGI College and Huazhong Agricultural University to learn about their exploration of and experience in innovative talents cultivation and to improve the comprehensive educational project for top-notch talents in agriculture and forestry. This activity aims at furthering the CIE’s “14th Five-Year Plan” and solving the urgent problems challenging the students’ development.

At Southern University of Science and Technology, the host made an introduction to their talent cultivation system and the characteristics of community-based education. The two sides then communicated about the cultivation model of “1+3”、“ 2+2” for undergraduate students, collaborative education, personalized training, and selection of courses.

At BGI College, the research team visited CIE’s 7 exchange undergraduates. The director of the Education Center, Wang Linpeng systematically introduced BGI’s philosophy of relying on high-quality scientific research platforms and high-level researchers to co-cultivate talents with universities. The two parties fully exchanged ideas of the co-cultivation of graduate students and summer scientific research practice projects, before reaching a preliminary consensus.

At Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU), CIE team learned in detail about the “Zhang Zhidong Class” in terms of the selection method, training plan and course electives of  (Agricultural Science). Sun Chao, the deputy Party secretary and Luo Chaoxi, Associate Dean of Plant Science and Technology College of HZAU shared their experience in student management, the scholarship rules, recommendation for further study, and the curriculum of labor education.

These visits aim to sum up the experience and provide reference for further exploration and the reform of model in top-notch talents in agriculture and forestry cultivation, personalized teaching management, and the multi-party linkage system of three-dimensional education.
