At 2:30 p.m. on March 9th, CIE faculty and students attended the National Ideological and Political Class co-hosted by Department of Social Sciences of MOE and people.cn. Themed on “ The Prevention and control of COVID-19”, the live streaming class was deliberately designed for all college students of China.

Long before the beginning, the students have been informed of the great occasion by their form teachers and student instructors. Though the teachers and the students could not communicate face-to-face, they were all engaged in the online communication from the preparation to the debriefing.

Speaking of "tribulations in Chinese history" taught by Professor Wang Binglin, CIE students Ma Nange said, “ The pandemic is a crisis and a severe test as well. The completion of the two hospitals --- Huoshenshan Hospital and Leishenshan Hospital demonstrated the "Chinese speed" to the world. The strong support from all over the country once again presented the strong cohesion of our nation. The orderly and efficient dispatch of materials and medical resources are great manifestations of the superiority of the socialist system with Chinese characteristics.” Student Wang Sijun from Biology Class 1904 said : “ At present, the situation is of severity. We must be aware that the home we may get bored at is the dreaming destination of all the front line fighters in this battle. The youth should be marked with unceasingly strive from which our good memories become rich in the future. We should undertake the responsibility for our national prosperity.”

In addition, the students also expressed their feelings about Professor Ai Silin’s idea of the construction of a shared community for the fighting against the COVID-19. Ren Zhaorui, a student of Biology Class 1904 said, “ We felt so moved to see that China was not alone in the days of fighting against the epidemic. Many countries gave their hands to us and highly affirmed China's anti-epidemic measures and positive results. The words ‘ While mountains and rivers separate us, we enjoy the same moonlight under the same sky’ printed on the masks donated by Japan are so caring blessing. All human beings are members of the same community with shared destiny. In the battle against the pandemic, we will definitely achieve the ultimate victory with joint efforts.”

Student Counselor Wang Ruofan said: "A sudden epidemic has made China the focus of the world's attention. The form teacher of Biology Class 1902 Ren Chengpeng said to us, “ Though the epidemic delays our return to school, our hearts are never separated in the battle against the epidemic. I hope all the students will never stop striving to be the socialist builders and successors with comprehensive qualities. Come on!”
