On 20th September, experts from A&F Animal Science College, Vetarinary Medicine College, Life Science College, Plant Protection College, Science College were invited to CIE to review the final reports of Y2014 National Undergraduate Innovative Experiment Program, which contains 20 national undergraduate innovative experiment projects of Y2011 CIE students and 19 student-conducted experiments.

The projects be to accredited were divided into two disciplinary-based groups. The elected representatives of each group were to make the presentation about their plan, while other team members supplemented wherever necessarily. The whole group were required to engaged in the report defense. The reports mainly covered the performance of the project, the achievement and the innovation in their projects. After looking through the written materials and reviewing the presentations and Q &A session, the accreditation council marked the projects and gave their suggestions to the groups.   

Among the 20 A&F key projects, 5 were evaluated outstanding projects while the other 15 excellent. Among the 19 student-conducted experiment projects, 3 of which were evaluated outstanding while the other 16 excellent. In accordance with the general plan of CIE research program, second year college students are encouraged to apply for the student-conducted experiment project, so as to get their views broadened and get their experienced enriched in literary review reading and pre-experiments preparation for the university-level key projects. These students whose projects were evaluated outstanding are allowed to upgrade their projects to university-level key projects of the same research orientation. The third year college students who applied for the A&F key projects, would receive the inspection and review of experts. And the outstanding ones will be recommended as national project. CIE will inspect the key projects of university-level in the first term of fourth academic year, and will give further financial support to the outstanding ones, to encourage them for further research or paper publishing.

At this review meeting, all Y2013 national undergraduate innovative experiment programs were thoroughly inspected and evaluated, which will stimulates the training of students research ability and the running of research program. The projected defense were generally satisfactory in the views of judges,who had gave instructive suggestions to all groups on the form and content of the presentations, the topic of research project and further implementation. The teachers also encouraged the student to improve the thinking ability and put eyes on the project design and construction instead of only on the specific experiments steps.

The inter-action between the judges and the students had greatly inspired the students. In addition, the judges keenly appreciate the research training plan of CIE. The combination of the text-knowledge with the practical ability of the students will play promoting role in students’ professional study, scientific research and innovative thoughts. The practice of taking research into the teaching plan of top-notch innovative talents cultivation model is very helpful to the students for their research practice and communication.
