On the Youth Day of 2014, President Xi Jinping visited Peking University and pointed out at the meeting that, Chinese civilization has been passed down thousands of years and has formed its distinctive system of value. The excellent Chinese traditional culture as the gene of China has rooted in the hearts of all its people and influenced profoundly on their thoughts and behavior. Therefore, the core value of socialism that we are advocating and developing would be vigorous and influential only when it draws nutrition from the excellent ancient civilization.    

To help the students better understand the Chinese traditional civilization and to develop their humanistic spirit and thoughts, series of tutorials for university students are to be held by Youren College with the support of A&F Academic Division.l

On the evening of 24th October, the lecture Taoism and Agricultural Civilization was given by Professor Fan Zhimin of A&F Humanity College. Over 80 students from CIE, Food Science and Engineering College and Enology College attended the lecture.

The general explanation of the topic and the relationship between traditional culture and the over-all development of individuals was given first in Professor Fan’s lecture. From the birth of Taosim, he then interpreted the development of Taoism and agricultural civilization. The influence of Taoism on agricultural civilization was different from that of Confucianism, Legalism, Mohism and Zhuism. In the zestful atmosphere of academy, the students benefited greatly from the lecture, enriching their knowledge of culture and further their understanding of Chinese ancient civilization.   ��

There are 10 lectures of Chinese ancient civilization to be held, with the topics of Chinese Modern Culture and Value, Similarities and Differences between Confucianism and Taoism, History of Chinese Civilization, The Rules of Conduct in The Analects of Confucius, and Classic Chinese Ancient Civilization. 

The lectures are well-designed, for which cover the ancient civilization, as well as the specialty of the disciplines of our university.
