Skill contest of biological illustration was successfully held by CIE the other day. This activity was designed to raise students’ interest in their majors and improve their skills of illustration.

Of the 40 entries,10 works of excellence stood out in preliminary competition after be exhibited and voted at Youren College. Mr. Chen Dongshan and Mr. Han Feng from Life Sciences were invited as judges.

The first session of final contest is to test the illustration ability of students who were required to draw the mode pattern of wisteria. The judges made instructive comments on all the works and informed the students of the standards and requirements of biological illustration. In the second session “ I Know it!”, videos were played to demonstrate the growth of animal and plants. The students then were supposed to identify the variety of plant shown in the video. The contest reached its peak where the students all pitched in the identification. Last, Wang Xi took the crown the competition, while the second and the third prize went to Li Zengkun and Wu Mengchun respectively.

The activity was so well-received by the students, because it enriched their college life and their knowledge of biology as well.
