Since it is the first term for graduate study of CIE Y2010 innovative class, it would be of great help if they know clearly of their goal and strategy, so as to make perfect transition of academic development. Therefore, on the afternoon of 9 September, Director of Cultivation Department of A&F Graduate College Mz. Wang Yuhuan was invited to gave a report to CIE Y2010 students on how to make practical and scientific academic study plan.

Mz. Wang first listed some repeated problems in the period of graduate study that former students once faced to, and reminded the students to study the students handbook and regulations so as to guarantee their study plan feasible. She also emphasized that the students should behave like a graduate in learning and treasure the opportunity they enjoy, making good use of personal time and their priority of lad use to prepare for their bachelor’s degree thesis.   

She explained the cultivation objectives of two major types of master degree in China, that is, academic and professional. Illustrating with her personal experience, she encouraged the students to be aggressive and be brave to make break-though, be confident and be ambitious in study and research. In addition, intelligence,integrity, generosity and team spirit were essentials as well. The students were encouraged to communicate with their mentors, to be tough with the lab work, to keep critical and creative in study and to be innovative and goal-oriented. Graduates were no longer a container waiting for the fillings from teachers, instead, they are supposed to be focused on one point and find more in it, Mz. Wang said.   ��

Last, Mz. Wang proposed five requirements to the students, which were---first, learn to learn; second, learn to communicate with mentors and gain more knowledge in research; third, learn to adapt to life of research via personal extensive readings and mentor’s instructive suggestion; fouth, learn to compose thesis following the instruction of required formate; fifth, be optimistic and expressive.

All the seats were occupied at the report, as the students were so attracted by Wang’s address. They viewed this report an great opportunity for them to make suitable and scientific academic plan, so they would grasp any chances that the college offered to complete their study with honor scores.
