On 7th June, the 9th Shaanxi Challenge Cup Undergraduate Extra-Curriculum Scientific Design Contest sponsored by 8 companies including Shaanxi Youth League Committee, Working Committee of Educational Department of Shaanxi Provincial Government and Administration Committee of Xi’an Gaoxin District, was held in Xi’an University of Technology. Encouraging news came to our college when the project Research of Cofilin and its Activity Regulative Mechanism conducted by our college student Hu Dexin won the grand prize while another student Li Zongjun’s project took the second prize.

To guarantee the success of this contest, teachers and college had been highly involved in the promotion, organization, participation and preparation of the contest ever since the commencement of the 6th A&F Challenge Cup Extra-Curriculum Scientific Design Contest. The participants benefited greatly from the frequent communication with and instruction from project mentors.

Two designs of our college stood out of the candidates from preliminary contest, semi-final to final, and won encouraging prizes, which was a manifest of their well-organized scientific logic and rich content design, and their ability to find and solve problems. It surprised me as the project won the first prize at the preliminary contest sponsored by A&F, said the grand prize winner Hu Dexin, however, I was not surprised twice when we took the best prize in provincial contest. Because the constructive instruction and suggestion of our supervisor professor Zhao Shanting and our constantly refine had promised our success, which also further my understanding of the old saying “ Hard Work Pays Off”. Project member Sun Xinyao said, “ I felt proud of taking part in this contest, and feel grateful to A&F and our college that provide us the opportunity.”

With full awareness to the importance of the scientific research ability and practice ability of students, our college have been working hard to build a scientific research bridge to expand students’ academic view and improve their practical ability via organizing academic development reports, field teaching, undergraduate innovative experimental program and lab-based scientific research training. We congratulate the students on their great success in the contest and wish greater achievements made by more students to fulfill their dream of science and research.

It has been decided that, Hu’s project will take part in the National Challenge Cup Extra-Curriculum Scientific Design Contest in October sponsored by Suzhou University. Wish them good luck and great success.

Introduction to grand prize project---Research of Cofilin and Its Activity Regulation Mechanism:

With the observation on the change of Cofilin and its active regulation gene of Hippocampus Histris Kaup at different phase of growth, and the further study of selected CofilinCofilin specificity phosphatase CIN and the Fyn of Reelin-LIMK-Cofilin signaling, this research suggests how the Cofilin function and regulate neurogenesis and neuronal migration.

Introduction to second prize project---Reduced Lesion in C. Perfringens-induced-necrotic-enteritis Chickens by Lactobacillus Fermentum 1.2029:

By constructing a model of necrotic enteritis, this research designed to explore the mechanism of how Lactobacillus fermentum 1.2029fucntions to protect broilers’ intestinal barrier function. As the research suggested, Lactobacillus fermentum 1.2029 manageable cell factor and TLR express quantity can enhance the immune function of broilers’ intestinal mucosa and lower the lever of inflammation.
