CIE Held Free-Talk Symposium for Students
From: Student Affairs Office      By: Lu Jiatong & Ren Zhaorui      Date: 2020-12-01

In order to further strengthen the communication between teachers and students and better answer the problems in the students’ study and life,CIE held a free-talk symposium for the students in the multimedia classroom on the evening of November 29th. With the student committees of Class 19 and Class 20, Li Xiangtuo, Deputy Party Secretary, and Wang Xiaoping, Associate Dean of CIE attended the meeting.

At the meeting, students from different grades and majors were eager to raise questions and put forward their own queries and suggestions on CIE’s training plan, curriculum setting, training direction, learning and living environment, learning style and teaching style. Mr. Li Xiangtuo and Mr. Wang listened carefully to these ideas and patiently answered their questions with detailed solutions. In the summary speech of the meeting, the associated dean extended heartfelt thanks to the students for their active participation. At the same time, he pointed out that sincere and face-to-face conversations is the key to build a harmonious communication platform between teachers and students. Therefore, he expressed hope that students actively engage in the college management and contribute their own share to the development of the college. He also promised that the College will, as always, pay attention to the growth of students, listen to their needs, and solve practical problems, trying to provide better resources and platforms for students' comprehensive development.

After the meeting, Wang Yulin, a student from Class 2001 of Water Conservancy commented, “This question-answering session not only answered my doubts, but also made me feel the care of the college leadership and instructors for our study and life. It enriched my understanding of the college and enhanced my sense of belonging to the college, which benefited me a lot.”

Unlike the traditional lectures, the Q&A session was held in a more interactive and efficient way by creating face-to-face conversations between the college leaders and students. In addition to answering students’ doubts and identifying the future tasks, the meeting served as a feedback channel that reduced the distance between the management and students and strengthen the students’ sense of identity and belonging, thus constructing a solid foundation for the further development of the College.

The student was asking questions.
