From: Student Affairs Office      By: Ren Zhaorui      Date: 2021-06-18

On the evening of June 17th, Mr. Meng Haowei gave CIE students a report on his experience in study and research. Mr. Meng graduated from CIE of NWAFU, and now studies at Peking University.

His report was designed to help the young students of our college make sensible options in research orientation and feasible plan for sustainable development in academic research. “Making reflection, Enhancing memorization, Drafting plan and Sharing findings” were the four suggestions from Mr. Meng to the students. He emphasized that the ability to filter fast-food information in research and life was of great importance. Reflection was a good habit as well as an ability everyone must develop for forming personalized logical system of knowledge. Looking back on his university life, he pointed out that making plans and working hard were important factors for his success, and the "Feynman Learning Method" made him fully realize the importance of sharing as a way of learning output. More than 8.5 million pageviews on Zhihu and other online platforms were attributed to his continuous accumulation and output. He encouraged students to find their individualized learning styles and lifestyles and grasp every opportunity for broadening horizon.

After the sharing, the students consulted on the topics of bioinformatics, further study, job-hunting and college life. Mr. Meng Haowei gave very detailed and specific answers in turn, which were of great value for the students’ academic study and personal growth.

Liu Xiaohan, a student of CIE Biology Base Class 1906 said : “ This report is so great. I used be very lost in whether and how to further study. Mr. Meng helps me to find the clear goal of study.”

This experience sharing session aims at providing feasible strategies for the undergraduates who are still "lost" at the phase of undergraduate study, and building a high-quality bridge between undergraduates and outstanding graduates. The face-to-face communication is an great opportunity that allows the students to consult the researchers about their academic development.
