To attain the knowledge through observation is a good way of intriguing students in scientific research. On the afternoon of November 9th, the activity Lab Tour co-held by CIE and College of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering took the CIE students to the starting line of their research journey.

The tour started with a brief report given by the dean of College of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering, Wang Shaojin, covering the following topics: the purse of the report, the research fields that the college working in, the quality-oriented cultivation of undergraduates and the engineering education for the graduates. The visitors are exposed to the history of all majors in that college, the research team, the cultivation programme for undergraduates, their further development after graduation, the awards won by the graduates and the achievements made by the students. Next, college dean Wang Shaojin, professor Cui Yongjie and Mr. Zhang Shuo showed the students the equipment and storage technique after processing, the robots used for collecting farm products, the automatic navigation utility and targeted agriculture.

With enhanced understanding of those professional knowledge, the students then were lead to three laboratories of different varieties. In the key laboratory of Internet of Things Sponsored by Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the students learned about the model of mechanical equipment. In the Shaanxi Provincial key laboratory of Agricultural Information Perception and Smart Service, the students was familiarized with how the robot do fruit picking after identifying the ripeness from the color. In the lab of Virtual Experimental Teaching Center of Agricultural Engineering, the students tried the operation of 3D-virtual checkerboard shaking and the fine equipment.
