On October 26th, 2018, the Y2018 freshmen of CIE went to Bairui Kiwi Fruit Research Institute for field teaching practice under the leadership of CIE Associate Dean Wang Xiaoping and the student counselor. This activity is organized to further students’ understanding of their agriculture science, raise their interest in study and improve their practical abilities.

The staff of Shaanxi Qirui Kiwifruit Research Institute warmly received the guests and introduced  the basic situation of the base, breeding of varieties, technical research and development, cultivation standards, pest control, transformation of results and demonstration of the industrialization. The students were highly engaged in the activity with enthusiasm. Besides, Head of the base, Mr. Li Yongwu,took the students to visit the experimental research area, the new variety breeding area, the new technology display area, and the planting resource protection area. The students not only tasted the kiwifruit, but also entered the kiwifruit demonstration garden and enjoyed the fruit-picking. In this way of close observation, the students got a deeper understanding of different varieties of kiwifruit.

This activity allowed the students to learn about the kiwifruit varieties in terms of the research,  technological innovation and development trend. It is also their first time to experience the field teaching practice, which enriches not only their college lift but also their knowledge about agricultural science, and lays a solid foundation for them making contribution to agriculture and forestry science in the future.
